Our weaver and knitter friends use these to hold their skeins and needles. Great for the farmer's market. Or they look beautiful in any home or camp simply to hold household stuff! We love them for their hand-woven, one of a kind designs using sturdy reeds with leather handles. Directly imported to us.
Approx 12'' high x 14" wide Fair Trade with Flair These beautiful handmade baskets are exclusively woven by the indigenous Frafra people of the historical town in northern Ghana called Bolgatanga. Weaving has been the traditional skill of these African people, mostly women, for centuries. Today these baskets are created primarily by the village women to supplement their incomes from the subsistence of farming activities. The weaving group has a mission: to assist poor rural women of northern Ghana in earning decent incomes from the fruits of their labors in order to care for their children. Their philosophy is that when the women can create an income, the trickle down effect has a positive effect of their community. This Fair Trade collective is a way of promoting self-esteem for the owmen, children and their village. By bringing these baskets into your home you are aiding a family in Ghana by being an active contributor to the Fair Trade Economy. Price: $44.00 |
