It’s Real! It’s Maine!

Highlights of this site:

Welcome to the fun and entertaining shopping experience that I have created on itsamainething.com website. As a Maine owned and operated business I have worked hard to capture the spirit of the Maine lifestyle by finding interesting things that tell the story about living in this beautiful state.

I am combining the treasures found in specialty boutiques, to the practical items for everyday use that you’d find in an outdoor store to great finds from a local craft show. Loads of exciting items reflecting the lifestyle of the Mainer, summer person, visitor or those who simply want a piece of the Maine experience.

Another great feature of my site is my blog, Hezzy’s Maine Living, that gets updated weekly. Places I have been, people I have spoken with and thoughts on being here. Or click on Hezzy’s Picks, which includes where to eat, shop and take in interesting activities throughout Maine. I’m just a gal who wants to have fun and share my adventure with others. This is the official site for the real Maine lifestyle.

Proudly, Maine has a long standing tradition of shaping independently minded, creative and motivated individuals. A strong work ethic and ingenuity are the backbone of this interesting yet complicated place. Going back to the traditions of the agrarian society of the 1700’s, to the shipbuilders and captains who sailed the formidable schooners in the 1800’s, to the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives today the integrity of Mainers and what we produce represents an attitude and lifestyle that many people outside of Maine aspire to.

I am one of those spirited individuals who is proud to be a true Mainer and whose family goes back more than 200 years here on this glacial formation. The good, the bad and the ugly of 200 years of family DNA and history are deeply rooted in my being. From my birth in Bangor, to my life as a kid who came for the summers, to the 35 years I have lived Downeast on the coast, Maine has been the backdrop of who I am. Being a mother, friend and entrepreneur has added the spark and dimension to who I am as a Mainer. I am active and creative and have lots to share with you. Give me a pair of skis for downhill at Sugarloaf or backcountry skiing in the north Maine woods, put me behind the wheel of a boat on Penobscot Bay, watch me pedal my bike in Acadia, embrace my pleasure of cooking using locally created Maine specialty foods to being creative as a noted Downeast metal worker… All of these are a piece of my life adventure that I want to share with you here on my web site.

Visit regularly, things are always changing! Here in Maine the tide changes daily, the weather changes hourly and my site in the same tradition changes regularly. Where lots of new items, ideas and adventures are routine. Itsamainething.com…your Maine resource for the good life.
